Issues Unique to California Law

Laboratory Field Services of the California Department of Health Services has been concerned for a number of years about whether state law issues were being addressed during surveys by laboratory accrediting organizations. In order to help accredited laboratories, and all laboratories, better understand how state law differs from federal (CLIA) law, Laboratory Field Services has prepared a list of state law issues unique to California. This listing, dated May 2003, may be used as a guideline to assure that your laboratory complies with state law. Laboratory Field Services plans to update this list each year to keep everybody better informed.
