Asthma and Allergies Study (BASTA):
a school-based survey in 13 and 14 year old children in Imperial
County. The goals are to: examine family, environmental, and
socio-economic influences on asthma and compare and contrast asthma
prevalence and risk factors.

Asthma Among School Aged (CAASA): supports seven community projects
that include Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to improve the
quality of asthma care and Community Health Workers (CHW) to work
with patients, parents, medical staff, schools and community to
improve asthma management and outcomes.

Asthma Public Health Initiative: works to improve the quality of
life for all children and adults with asthma through
implementation of effective programs and policies for asthma
education, management and prevention.

Breathing: A five-year CDC-CDHS funded initiative to implement the
Strategic Plan for Asthma in California.

SENSOR Asthma Program:
identifies industries, occupations and exposures that put workers at
risk for work related asthma (WRA)
in order to develop and implement appropriate prevention measures.
Childhood
Asthma Initiative (Chronic Disease Control Branch and Children's
Medical Services Branch): coordinates a statewide demonstration project
in which eight communities receive funding to implement
comprehensive child asthma intervention projects. Three of the
communities also receive funding for treatment services.

Asthma Initiative (Environmental Health Investigations Branch): A three-year Children and
Families Commission funded project to examine the asthma policies
and practices of licensed childcare facilities and the asthma
knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of childcare providers.
Children’s
Medical Services Branch:
provides comprehensive health care for children through preventive
screening, diagnostic, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up
services.
Environmental
Health Tracking Program: A three-year CDC funded program to build
an environmental health tracking program and conduct pilot
projects in Oakland, CA and the Central Valley.
Indoor
Air Quality Program: coordinates research, investigations,
experiments, demonstrations, surveys and studies relating to the
causes, effects, extent, prevention and control of indoor
pollution in California.
Maternal
Child and Adolescent Health Branch: develops systems to protect and improve the
health of California’s women of reproductive age, infants,
children, adolescents, and their families.

Tobacco
Control Section: works toward achieving a tobacco-free California,
and reducing illness and premature deaths attributable to tobacco
by implementing programs to reduce tobacco use and exposure to
second hand tobacco smoke.
