California Association of
Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance
(CAHPERD) is a non-profit, voluntary membership corporation formed
exclusively to promote the organizing and progress of school, community and
statewide programs of health, physical education, recreation and dance which
will embody such opportunities and which will insure the inclusion of such
programs within the most appropriate philosophical and social context of life in
California.
California
Association of Directors of Activities (CADA). Membership in
the organization is open to individuals working with students in any phase of
co-curricular activities. With it's goal of providing resources and
services to members and member schools, CADA continues to work toward the public
recognition of student activities as an important facet of a student's
education.
California Interscholastic Federation
(CIF) is a bottom up organization and its
functions are designed to ensure that new rules only come into being after
having been examined and voted upon by CIF representatives throughout the state
of California.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Guidelines to
Promote Lifelong Physical Activity This report summarizes
recommendations for encouraging physical activityamong young people so that they
will continue to engage in physical activity inadulthood and obtain the benefits
of physical activity throughout life. These guidelines were developed by CDC in
collaboration with experts from universitiesand from national, federal, and
voluntary agencies and organizations. They are based on an in depth review of
research, theory, and current practice in
physical education, exercise science,
health education, and public health.
