EPIC > About EPIC
Injury is the number one killer and disabler of persons aged 1 to 44.
In California each year, injuries cause:
- over 15,000 deaths
- over 75,000 people to be permanently disabled
- over 300,000
Californians to be hospitalized
- one in four Californians to require some form of medical
treatment
Injuries do not result from random acts of fate or freak accidents. The causes of injuries are
understandable and predictable, and resulting injuries are preventable.
We encourage you to explore this web site and learn more about EPIC and our wide variety of
injury prevention and surveillance programs. Learn more about how
EPIC is organized.
How to contact EPIC:
As of June 2003, EPIC moved from our location at Continental Plaza on Richards Boulevard to new
offices located in downtown Sacramento, just East of the Capitol. We are now located on the
fourth floor of 1616 Capitol Avenue, part of the new "East End" complex
which houses nearly all of the Department of Health Services.
Please note all EPIC staff members have new phone numbers as a result of this move.
For a short period of time, the voicemail at staff members' old numbers will let you know of their
new number. After the old numbers stop working, call our main line and ask to be re-directed
to a specific person.
EPIC's new contact information:
