EPIC > About EPIC
The EPIC Branch is the focal point for the Department of Health Services’ (DHS) injury
prevention efforts, both epidemiological investigations and implementation of prevention programs to
reduce intentional and unintentional injuries. Prevention efforts include epidemiological
surveillance, planning and consensus building, interventions, policy development, professional
education and training, and public information.
EPIC is part of the California Department of Health Services (DHS). Specifically, within
DHS we are part of Prevention Services (PS)
and the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury
Control (CDIC).
The organizational units within EPIC are:
