Licensing and Certification

Licensing and Certification promotes the highest quality of  medical care in community settings and facilities.

Aide and Technician Certification Section

Effective July 12, 2006, applicants for Nurse Assistant, home Health Aide, or Hemodialysis Technician are no longer required to send fees or payments for certification. This includes delinquent certificates and initial applications as a result of Reciprocities, Equivalencies, and Reactivations. Processing Fees submitted with the applications will be returned.

In addition, each health facility that is operating as a health care facility (excluding facilities with license in suspense) and is used as a clinical skills site for nurse assistant certification training (either through operation of its own training program, or through a contract with another training program) shall arrange for and pay the cost of Live Scan services for those trainees.

Please see the following letters (AFL 06-07, AFL 06-18, AFL 06-29). We appreciate your patience as we implement this new process. If you have any questions please call (916) 327-2445 or via email at cna@dhs.ca.gov.
