About this data
These tables present the number and rate of injury deaths and nonfatal injury
hospitalizations. The data are presented for all California residents from 1991
to the most current year available. There may be times when one data set (fatal
or nonfatal) is more current than the other. We add new years of data whenever
they become available.
We do not plan to replicate these tables for California counties. Because
rates based on fewer than 20 cases are unreliable, we do not calculate them.
Most California counties do not have large enough numbers of injuries to allow
calculation of very many rates. The number of injuries in counties are available
elsewhere in EPICenter.
These tables are presented in PDF format. The first page shows the NUMBER of
cases. The second page shows the RATE. Rates were calculated using California
Department of Finance population data. Where there were fewer than 20 cases, we
did not calculate a rate because those values would not be statistically
reliable.
