EPIC > Office on Disability
and Health
Between April 2002 and March 2005, this Project focused on promoting health and
well-being among people of all ages with disabilities to enhance the quality of
life and prevent secondary conditions. To accomplish this goal, we:
- Conducted scientific studies to answer important questions about disability.
For example: How common are various disabilities? What health care and health
promotion services do people with disabilities receive? What are promising
strategies for improving access to services and the health status of people with
disabilities?
- Consulted with experts and people with disabilities to create a statewide
plan to guide research, program, and policy development to ensure better access
to health care services, and health promotion programs for people with disabilities.
- Conducted a women's health study with the
Department of Rehabilitation and Community Resources for Independent Living
to increase screening rates fro breast and cervical cancer among women with physical
disabilities.
For more
information on this project, visit CRIL’s web site.
- Conducted training with and provided technical assistance to state and local
programs and contractors to ensure inclusion of people with disabilities.
