Healthy People 2010 is a set of health objectives for the Nation to achieve over the first decade of the
new century. It represents a comprehensive and systematic health promotion and disease prevention agenda that
provides 467 health improvement objectives in 28 Focus Areas to be achieved by the year 2010.
California has monitored Healthy People goals and objectives since the early 1980’s, and continues to
monitor the state’s progress in meeting the challenges of increasing the quality and years of healthy life and
of eliminating health disparities for its residents.
This section of the Office of the Health Information and Research (OHIR) website provides a centralized
repository Healthy People 2010 materials, including California Department Health of Services' reports,
