 California, during the last decade, enacted landmark legislation to prevent childhood lead poisoning. This legislation has established the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB) a children's environmental health program offering multi-layered solutions to this complex problem.

Certification for Lead Work Finding and Abating Lead Hazards Educational Material Regulations and Forms Reporting Unsafe Work Practices

The following unsafe work practices may create lead hazards:

  • open flame burning or torching
  • machine sanding/grinding without containment
  • hydro blasting/pressure washing without containment
  • abrasive/sand blasting without containment
  • dry sanding/scraping without containment
To report unsafe lead work practices, contact your
Local Health Department or your
Local Building Department. If you are unable to resolve the problem locally, contact the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch, Compliance and Enforcement Unit, at 510-620-5600.
