Breast Cancer Act
This act funds, through a regressive tobacco tax of $.001, essential
research and services with respect to the cause, cure, detection, and
prevention of breast cancer, and breast cancer education. |

1993 Breast cancer: written summary of treatment alternatives.
This bill amends Section 1704.5 of the Health and Safety Code. It states that physicians and surgeons shall provide patients being treated for any form of breast cancer a written summary of their alternatives. |

Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of 2000
Provides medical assistance to women screened and found to have breast
or cervical cancer under a federally funded cancer screening program. |

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Mortality Prevention Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-354)
The act established the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. The program provides breast and cervical cancer screening exams to underserved women. |

| Over the years Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts
has been awarded for the work it has done to promote breast cancer early detection, breast cancer awareness and the free screening services it provides to low-income, uninsured and underinsured women in California. Most recently
Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts received a Silver Award from the National Public Health Information Coalition for our recent outreach efforts to the Korean community of Los Angeles, in partnership with the local Korean American Grocers Organization. Cancer Detection Section was one of only three
Department of Public Health entities to receive national recognition this year.
