"Disappearing Act" is a wonderful
partnership between Hollywood and health. It combines "star
power" with "sister power". Debbie Allen directed both the English and Spanish PSAs.
Debbie's sister, celebrity Phylicia Rashad is featured in the English language PSA. Renowned Latina
physician Dr. Aliza Lifshitz, appears in the Spanish language PSA.
Debbie Allen creates a loving spot that uses
dance to celebrate women, children and life, as well as warn of the dangers of
breast cancer. The goal is to get women 40 and older to call 1-800-511-2300 to see if they qualify for a free clinical breast exam and mammogram.
By featuring women of many shapes, sizes, and ethnic backgrounds, Ms.
Allen hopes
that all viewers 40 and older will identify with the women in the spot.
