The Healthy Families Program provides low cost health care to children under
the age of 19 years of age with family incomes at or below 250 percent of the
federal poverty level, for children not eligible for no-cost Medi-Cal. Families
pay a monthly premium of $4 to $15 per child with a maximum of $45 for all
children in the family.
The Healthy Families Program is administered by the Managed Risk Medical
Insurance Board (MRMIB). Information about the Healthy Families Program can be
found on the MRMIB website at www.mrmib.ca.gov
or the Healthy Families website at
www.healthyfamilies.ca.gov.
Families may request a joint Healthy Families/Medi-Cal for Families
application to be mailed to their home by calling the toll free line at 1 -
888-747-1222. Families may also have an application completed over the telephone
by calling the toll free line at 1 800 880-5305. The mail-in application is
available in 10 languages.
